The state of Alabama might be building some positive momentum on the hardwood, but it's still not enough to keep one of the nation's best players at home.

Five-star combo guard Josh Langford has committed to play for Tom Izzo and Michigan State in 2016. The rising senior from Madison Academy in north Alabama had his pick of practically any team in college basketball, including offers from Alabama and Auburn, but chose to head to the Big 10.

"I felt a great connection with head coach Tom Izzo and liked the family atmosphere at Michigan State," Langford told ESPN.

Langford is the top-ranked player in the state for 2016 after leading Madison Academy to two state championships in the past three seasons, which has earned him 3A Player of the Year honors three years running. He's a huge favorite to make it four-straight years and will once again be in the mix for Mr. Basketball honors.

The 6-6, 200-pound guard is currently traveling with the USA under-18 select team and making an impact during international play.
