Since Nick Saban’s arrival at the Tuscaloosa Municipal Airport in 2007, Alabama football has seen numerous individual and program records broken thanks to Saban’s mastery in recruiting and player development.

The Crimson Tide broke another school and SEC record with 12 players selected in this year’s NFL Draft eclipsing the 2017 mark of 10 players selected from the Crimson Tide.

To kick off the week, former Alabama fullback Martin Houston along with DC from Golden Shores Productions broke down the program’s success in the NFL Draft and how it has helped to shape the success of Alabama football under Nick Saban.

While Alabama has produced numerous NFL legends under various coaching regimes, DC put into context how well Saban has done in producing NFL talent compared to his post-Paul “Bear” Bryant predecessors.

“If you look at the last 10 years, the University of Alabama has had more draft picks in the last 10 years than they did from 1980 until 2008.” DC said.

He believes that Saban’s prowess in recruiting and program management have a lot to do with Alabama’s recent success in the draft.

“I think that you’re seeing the Nick Saban effect on that in his recruiting and his style and his process.” DC said.

Martin Houston and DC also touched on how going through the program at Alabama prepares players for professional football and how certain individuals could fare at the next level.
