“YEA ALABAMA” is being played on Denny Chimes today in honor of legendary University of Alabama Football Head Coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant. Today would have been Coach Bryant’s 100th birthday.

The University of Alabama has had many fine coaches of many sports, but none has ever been more revered than Bryant.

Over his 25-year career at UA Bryant led the Crimson Tide football team to national and SEC championships, No. 1 rankings, bowl game invitations and a 232-46-9 record. His influence over players, peers and fans could be attributed to his indomitable spirit, summed up in the much-quoted phrase, “I ain’t never been nothing but a winner.”

UA and the Bryant Museum have planned several activities to commemorate today. Activities and events include new additions to the Bryant Museum’s section on the coach and a new book and a new documentary about Bryant’s life. The documentary will air tonight at 7:00 and again at 8:30 on WVUA.
