Following one of their best scoring performances of the season against Georgia, Alabama basketball heads to a place that has provided many nightmares over the past 30 years.

On paper, it appears that Alabama should be able to notch their first win at Vanderbilt under Avery Johnson with the Commodores coming in at 0-9 in the Southeastern Conference, past history shows that even beating the weakest Vandy teams in Nashville has not been easy.

After Wimp Sanderson's squads took three straight matchups at Vanderbilt from 1985-1987, the Tide has fallen in 14 of the last 16 trips to Memorial Gym including 11 straight losses from 1991-2011.

To put a crimson and white bow for the week, former Alabama fullback Martin Houston and producer James Hardy gave their three keys to victory for the Crimson Tide's trip to Nashville on The Blitz.

For James' three keys in his three point shot, he touched on the importance of perimeter defense, Alabama's guards handling the ball well and Donta Hall remaining out of foul trouble.

For Martin, he also discussed the fundamental aspects of good ball handling but also examined the mental aspect of playing inside Memorial Gym and the Tide needing to finish strong down the stretch.

Catch The Blitz every weekday from 6-7 AM on Tide 102.9/100.9 and the Tide 102.9 app.
