After a two week search for a defensive line coach, Nick Saban officially named Karl Dunbar as Alabama’s new defensive line coach late last week.

Tider Insider’s Rodney Orr analyzed Saban’s hiring of Dunbar, the grind of an expanding football season, the impact of outside quarterback coaches on college teams and more on the Gary Harris Show.

Besides his resume, Orr pointed to a key factor that influenced Dunbar's addition to the Alabama coaching staff.

“I thought one of the keys in replacing Bo Davis is finding a guy who had the ability to create a brotherhood on that defensive line.” Orr said.

Dunbar comes to Alabama after spending the past 10 seasons in the NFL as a defensive line coach for three different teams.
