Tuscaloosa County High Football will open its 2016 season on Friday and every game can once again be heard on Tide 102.9.

This marks the sixth season that the Wildcats have been carried by Tuscaloosa's only sports radio station and the Home of Alabama Sports. Every game broadcast will begin at 6:45pm for the pregame show and kickoff will be at 7PM. Fans can listen from anywhere in the state on the radioPup app for mobile devices.

Tuscaloosa County, which is the only class 7A team in the area, begins the year on the road with a cross-town trip to Paul Bryant High School. The Wildcats will try to rebound from a winless season in 2015 and will do so with first-year head coach Bart Sessions.

"I think there's excitement about football," Sessions told Gary Harris. "Our kids want to go out and prove themselves and that kinda showed this summer. We had a great summer. We put them in some really stiff competition and tested them."

Sessions arrives to County High after two years as the defensive coordinator at Spain Park, which lost in the 7A state championship game last year. Coincidentally, that loss came to McGill-Toolen, which is where Sessions was the head coach from 2011-2013. During that time, he led the Yellow Jackets to a 34-5 record over three seasons.

Now in Tuscaloosa, Sessions will stay in Region 3 of AHSAA Class 7A football and he understands the challenge ahead.

"The 7A region that we play in has shown year in, year out to be the best region in the state of Alabama. To us, that fits right in with what we're trying to promote anyway. It's about working every day. It's about respecting every opponent."

The Wildcats' broadcast team from 2015 will return as well. Mick Gillispie, Justin Baker, and Greer Williams will bring you all of the coverage in 2016.

Listen to Sessions' appearance on 'The Gary Harris Show' a week before the season as he talks about year one with the Wildcats.
