The player behind one of the greatest catches in Alabama football history is taking those skills to Jasper High School as the new wide receivers coach.

Jasper head coach Brian Moore, who took over in January, announced the new hire on Twitter.

Prothro became a star at Alabama from 2003-2005 under Mike Shula before suffering a career-ending injury against Florida. Over the past couple of years, Prothro has turned to coaching. He interned in the NFL before taking an assistant job with Spanish Fort last year.

"We are certain that his character and integrity will be an incredible asset to the Jasper Football Program and community. We are so excited that he will join our Viking family," Moore said.

After competing in Class 6A, Jasper is dropping down to 5A, Region 7 and will compete against Dora, Corner, Hayden, West Point, Lawrence County, Russellville and Hamilton.
