Who’s Taking on Who? The SEC Slate of Games for Week 1

It's finally time for college football to kickoff! Let's look at all of the teams in the SEC and look at the opponents each team is facing.

Thursday, August 31

Florida A&M at Arkansas- 7:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: SEC Network

It's a pivotal year for Bret Bielema, as he may be on the hot seat this season. After a 7-6 season last year, plus 3-5 in conference play, The Razorbacks look to rebound. This should be an easy one for the Razorbacks, but stranger things have happened!

Saturday, September 2

Missouri State at Missouri- 11:00 AM (CST)
Where you can watch: SEC Network

Last year, Missouri had an abysmal season, going 4-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Second year head coach Barry Odom has a lot to work on this year. This will be a good tune-up game to see where the Tigers are right now.

NC State at South Carolina- 2:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: ESPN

Will Muschamp is only in his second season as head coach at South Carolina. He faces a challenge somewhat in a NC State team that looks to improve on their previous season. We'll see how the Gamecocks handle the Wolfpack.

Kentucky at Southern Miss- 3:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: CBS Sports Network

The Wildcats have been a polarizing team in the SEC East. They tend to start strong and then trail off near the end of the season. They face a Southern Miss team that defeated the Wildcats last year. How will Mark Stoops handle his fifth year at the helm?

Charleston Southern at Miss State- 3:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: SEC Network

The Bulldogs stumbled last season, and barely winning their bowl game against Miami (OH). Dan Mullen definitely has to lot to work with this season. This game will be a good measuring stick to see where Miss State is.

Appalachian State at #15 Georgia- 5:15 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: ESPN

Kirby Smart enters his second season with the Bulldogs after a 8-5 season last year. While not a bad season in anyway, Georgia looks to take the SEC East away from Florida this year. Definitely a team to watch in the SEC.

Georgia Southern at #12 Auburn- 6:30 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: SEC Network 

There is a lot of excitement this season regarding the Auburn Tigers. With a confident Gus Malzahn and a new quarterback at the helm, the Tigers look to make some noise. We'll get our first look at the team on Saturday.

South Alabama at Ole Miss - 6:30 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: ESPNU

To say the Rebels have had a tumultuous offseason would be an understatement. Ole Miss may have a tough season ahead of them. They'll try to put it all behind and take on South Alabama in their opener.

Vanderbilt at Middle Tennessee- 7:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: CBS Sports Network

Another coach that may be on the hot seat is Derek Mason of Vanderbilt. While he managed to defeat Tennessee in the last regular season game, NC State handled them easily in their bowl game. In his fourth season, Derek Mason may be in win or go home territory.

BYU vs #13 LSU- 8:30 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: ESPN

Originally set to played in Houston, the game has been moved to Louisiana due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey. Ed Orgeron steps into his first full season as the head coach of Tigers. With questions abound, LSU looks to silence the critics against BYU and remain a force in the SEC.

#11 Michigan vs #17 Florida- 2:30 PM (CST)
Where you can watch- ABC 

One of biggest games of weekend, the Gators take on the Wolverines in Arlington. Both teams look to make strides in their perspective conferences, Florida hoping to recapture the SEC East, while Michigan looks to capture the Big Ten in the East division. This looks to be an absolutely great matchup.

Sunday, September 3

Texas A&M at UCLA- 6:30 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: FOX

Kevin Sumlin has a lot to focus on. Public perception is that he on the hot seat, and that in conjunction with being in the SEC West, The Aggies have a lot to look forward to. They take their first steps aganist UCLA in Pasadena.

Monday, September 4

#25 Tennessee vs Georgia Tech- 7:00 PM (CST)
Where you can watch: ESPN

Butch Jones, in his fifth season at Tennessee, faces a tough challenge. Reports have surfaced he's also on the hot seat, and while the Vols started off strong last year, they faltered at the end. If they want to take the SEC East, they have to face a tough Georgia Tech team.

A lot of games this week, and it'll only better as the season progresses. Happy kickoff week!
