The transfer portal has officially opened for college basketball, and Alabama has already started to take advantage of it. Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide have four transfers in their starting lineup for 2024, so Alabama relies heavily on the transfer portal.

Alabama continues to find talent from smaller schools, with the Crimson Tide landing Houston Mallette from Pepperdine.

During 2023, Mallette averaged 14.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. The sixth-ranked prospect in the transfer portal, and second-ranked point guard, was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.

Mallette's best game in the 2023-2024 season at Pepperdine came in a 90-82 loss to Indiana State, where he scored 31 points and had five assists.

Alabama's roster will experience some turnover following the end of the NCAA Tournament, so it is not yet known how Mallette will fit into the lineup. However, Crimson Tide fans can rest assured Oats and the staff will find the best fit for the 2024-2025 Alabama roster.
