The top-ranked Alabama men’s golf team shot 6-under 274 and is in a tie for second place after one round of the 2014 NCAA Championship Saturday at the par-70, 6,941-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club.
 
After Friday’s play was washed out, the Crimson Tide turn around and immediately begin their second round with Tom Lovelady teeing off at 3 p.m. (CDT).
 
Alabama is tied with Auburn at 274 after the first round with South Carolina in the lead at 8-under 272 earlier in the morning. SMU is also in the clubhouse at 4-under 276.
 
Bobby Wyatt paced the Alabama attack with a 4-under 66 and is currently in a tie for third place. Lovelady was next with a 3-under 67 and is tied for eighth. South Carolina’s Will Starke leads individually at 6-under 64.
 
Cory Whitsett and Trey Mullinax counted as the Tide’s third and fourth score in round one while Robby Shelton’s 72 was dropped from the team total. Whitsett shot even-par 70 and is tied for 48th while Mullinax carded a 1-over 71 and is tied for 63rd.
 
The teams, including Alabama, who were in the afternoon flight in the first round, will turn around and play round two this afternoon. Those teams who teed off Friday morning will begin their second Sunday morning and play 36 holes
