No. 9 Alabama softball defeated No. 10 Texas 4-3 in an extra inning thriller on Saturday night.

Freshman Kenleigh Cahalan had the game winning hit in the top of the 11th inning. She drove home Larissa Preuitt with a two out RBI single to give Alabama a one run lead. The Crimson Tide secured the final three outs and finally won after four extra innings.

Alabama led the game 3-0 early on. Ally Shipman drove home her 18th run of the year in the first inning and senior Jenna Johnson had a two-run single in the second inning to extend the lead to three runs.

Texas battled back with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and then scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at three. The score remained deadlocked until Cahalan's game winner in the 11th inning.

Montana Fouts (10-2) was on the mound the entire game for Alabama. She threw a career high 11.0 innings and 162 pitches. She struck out 14 Longhorns. She is now seven strikeouts away from having 1,000 punch outs in her career. Only four other Alabama players have achieved this feat.

The Crimson Tide will finish up the Bevo Classic with a game against Wisconsin Sunday morning.
