Former Alabama linebacker, defensive rookie of the year for the Texans and current San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans interviewed with Houston on Friday for their vacant head coach position.

It seems the conversation was pretty productive as the meeting went 'deep into the evening' according to reports. Bad interviews don't usually last for hours.

Since his interview on Friday, Ryans has cancelled two more head coach interviews that were scheduled for Saturday.

Although these cancellations don't mean anything as nothing is locked down and set in stone yet, Ryans claimed his primary focus right now is the playoffs and getting his defense prepared to make their first super bowl run since the 2020 season.

A lot of theories could be made as to why Ryans has decided to not go through with his other head coaching interviews. Maybe he is only interviewing with teams he feels have a good opportunity to turn things around. Or maybe he decided he shouldn't be focusing on interviews right now since his team still has a good shot at making it to the Super Bowl this year.

Sean Payton also recently interviewed with the Texans and is considered to be in the final set of candidates for the job.

All we know is that the Texans will reveal their next coach in the next few weeks. They could wait until the Super Bowl is over, but the chances of this position being filled by DeMeco Ryans are pretty high as of right now.
