Alabama freshman running back Derrick Henry was injured during Saturday’s scrimmage and will miss the remainder of spring practice and this Saturday’s 2013 Golden Flake A-Day Game.

“Derrick Henry suffered a fractured fibula in Saturday’s scrimmage and had successful surgery this morning with Dr. Lyle Cain,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said on Tuesday. “With the support of our medical staff and the hard work and dedication Derrick has shown since he arrived, we are confident that he will make a full recovery for the start of camp this fall.”

Henry, from Yulee, Fla., enrolled at the University of Alabama in January to get an early start to his collegiate career. He set the national high school rushing record at Yulee High School and was the Maxwell Football Club’s National High School Player of the Year.

Alabama’s 2013 A-Day Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. The game can be heard on the flagship station for Alabama football, 95.3 WFFN-FM.
