Hank South Details Alabama’s Latest Commitments
As many Americans enjoyed an off-day on Independence Day to celebrate the holiday, Alabama football was hard at work in securing prospects for 2019 and beyond.
Late Tuesday night, West Jones High School defensive end Byron Young committed to the Crimson Tide. The Laurel, Mississippi native chose Alabama over Georgia AND Mississippi State.
Alabama also received a commitment Monday from Calera High School defensive tackle Jayson Jones. The Calera, Alabama native picked the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs.
During his weekly recruiting segment on The Blitz, BamaOnline.com recruiting reporter Hank South analyzed both commitments earlier this week beginning with Byron Young and his status as one of the top defensive line recruits out of Mississippi.
"I think Byron Young by far has the best body. He's a legit 6'4", 285. He wears it really well, a really powerful guy. I think getting him into Alabama and the strength and conditioning program will do wonders for him." South said.
The BamaOnline.com recruiting reporter had similar things to say about Jones concerning his potential and his future benefit from being in Alabama's strength and conditioning program.
"He's another guy that's going to benefit greatly from Alabama's strength and conditioning program." South said. "I think he'll be big time when he gets to Alabama."
South later recapped Alabama's commits who participated in "The Opening" including offensive lineman Pierce Quick and quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.
