The madness is upon us. The bracket has finally been released and for the next four days, everyone will be working non-stop to find the perfect bracket that will give them that incredible feeling of winning their pool. In order to get that feeling, you need to have a system when filling out your bracket.

Here are a couple tips to help you take down the big prize:

    Pick the 1 Seeds

In eight of the last ten years, a 1-seed has made it to the Final Four. These are the teams that have either won their regular season conference championship or their conference tournament, sometimes both. While some 1-seeds make it to the Final Four, others lose before reaching the Sweet 16 (Kansas in 2010, Gonzaga in 2013). Pick a 1-seed, but make sure you pick the right one.

    Go with the Hot Team

March Madness is about getting hot at the right time. The right time is now, entering the tournament. If a team was hot at the beginning of the year but has struggled recently, chances are they might not go very far (Syracuse started 20-0 last year then lost in the round of 32). A hot team is the team that won their conference tournament. In eight of the last 10 years, the national champion won their conference tournament.

    Stick with Your Gut

Trust yourself. If an expert says that team A is going to win, but you have a feeling that team B is going to win, go with team B. Bracketology is an inexact science. Right now, you're as much of an expert as the guys on TV. Remember, no one has ever gotten a perfect bracket, not even the experts, so stick with your gut.
