Insider Claims Jeremy Pruitt Has Been Cleared by SEC

According to the sources, Jeremy Pruitt has reportedly been cleared by the Southeastern Conference to take a coaching position within the conference despite the ramifications of his actions as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Pruitt's clearing is not official, nor has it been formally announced by the conference or anyone connected to Pruitt directly.

Many have speculated since before Pete Golding had even departed Tuscaloosa for Oxford that the only thing stopping Nick Saban from hiring Pruitt was some red tape in Birmingham.

That red tape has been cleared.

"I have heard that the Southeastern Conference was dragging its feet a little bit on approving him," said  a guest speaking to Tide 100.9's Joe Gaither on "Cup of Joe." "Don't quote me on this, but a couple of sources I have have told me that he has been cleared by the SEC, but that was just a few days ago."

If that's true, it could mean that the re-hiring of Pruitt in Tuscaloosa is impending at any moment.

In his time in Tuscaloosa, Pruitt served in a variety of roles. The DeKalb County native started as Saban's first director of player development in Tuscaloosa after spending time at a handful of high school programs in the state. He held that role from 2007-2009 before becoming the defensive backs coach from 2010-2012. In 2013, he went to Florida State as the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. The following season, he took the same role at Georgia and held it for two seasons before returning to Alabama as the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach.

In 2018, Pruitt became the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. During his time in Knoxville, he came under fire for allegedly providing cash incentives to players and recruits before the NIL era. Since then, he has reportedly been barred by the Southeastern Conference from coaching in it.
