On Thursday, the Philly Voice reported the School District said the air conditioners would be used in schools that had previously been included in early dismissals for students on hot days.

In a statement from the district, Hurts said, "I believe every child deserves a comfortable space to learn and grow. Philadelphia has given me so much, and I’m excited to give back to the community in a way that supports our future leaders. Ensuring our schools are equipped with essential resources like air conditioning is one step toward helping our student achieve their very best.”

Hurts attended a press conference with superintendent Tony B. Watlington on Friday morning. According to Fox 29 in Philadelphia, Hurts said during an assembly at Edward Gideon Elementary School, "I see so much potential, so much opportunity, I see so many beautiful spirits in these young kids. Everybody has a dream and they deserve to reach those dreams with the proper resources."

"The one thing everyone in this room needs to know is: If given the opportunity and given a push forward – someone to help you, someone to uplift you, someone to help chase those dreams you have – anything is possible with hard work and the right mindset," Hurts said to a room full of students excited to talk to the Eagles superstar.

Hurts finished as the MVP runner-up in 2022. The Eagles signal caller totaled 3,858 passing yards, 605 rushing yards, and 38 total touchdowns in 2023. Hurts is expected to take the Eagles back to the Super Bowl in 2024, and he'll have a coalition of former Alabama stars to help him. DeVonta Smith is Hurts' second option at wide receiver, and he'll have Landon Dickerson covering his blindside as the team's long-term left guard.

Hurts and the Eagles will open the 2024 season in Brazil against Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers on Friday, September 6. The remainder of the Eagles schedule will be released sometime in May.
