A vital part of any successful athletic program is recruiting and attracting great players.

One of the south’s best high school point guards in Collin Sexton has Alabama high on his list for the 2017 signing period.

On Wednesday’s Inside the Locker Room, Sexton’s high school coach George Washington profiled his star point guard.

Washington detailed Sexton’s work ethic toward accomplishing his goal for the upcoming season.

“He's a kid that’s been in the gym in the morning and at night. So he’s just getting better every day.” Washington said.

The Pebblebrook High School coach laid out the primary factors that would influence Sexton’s school of choice.

“It’s got to be a coaching staff that’s going to allow Collin to be Collin. Collin can play on the ball/off the ball. Style of play is going to be real important. He’s got to go somewhere that they’re going to play up-tempo and then it’s all about relationships. For him, its' going to be, he needs a great relationship with the coaching staff and someone on that coaching staff.” Washington said.

Washington praised head coach Avery Johnson and assistant coach Antoine Pettway in terms of relationship building with Collin and his family.

“Coach (Antoine) Pettway has a done a superior job and Coach (Avery) Johnson have done an excellent job of developing a relationship with Collin and his family.” Washington said.

According to the Coach Washington, Florida, Arizona and NC State also have an opportunity to land Sexton.

He gave an approximate target date for when Sexton might make his decision on a collegiate destination.

“He probably wants to get it done in mid-September.” Washington said.
