Rival Guard Visiting Alabama

The men's basketball transfer portal is still raging in the SEC, and a rival player from Auburn is set to visit Alabama.

The transfer portal doesn't care about rivalries and who is successful in a college basketball rivalry. Instead, any team that has an opening is likely willing to take a visit from a player who previously attended a rival college. In the case of Nate Oats and Alabama, they might just have an opening for a now-former Auburn Tiger.

As first reported by On3 Sports, Auburn guard Aden Holloway is expected to visit Alabama this weekend after leaving The Plains.

Alabama might have an opening for their starting point guard with the likely departure of Mark Sears to the NBA. Holloway, a freshman at Auburn last season, could help to fill that role. Alabama is already losing two guards, Aaron Estrada due to no remaining eligibility and Rylan Griffen to the transfer portal, and potentially could lose at least one more with Sears. Alabama is also awaiting the decision of Latrell Wrightsell Jr.

Holloway, six-foot-one, 178 pounds, is entering his sophomore season. During his freshman year at Auburn, Holloway averaged 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 30.2% from three and 31.8% from the field in Auburn's rotation a season ago.

His highest-scoring game came in the Rocket City Classic against Indiana, where he scored 24 points and shot five-for-eight from three in 22 minutes of play.

In addition to Holloway, Alabama is also expecting a visit from former Rutgers center Clifford Omoruyi, who stands at 6-foot-11, 240 pounds.
