Although Alabama basketball will not tip-off their first regular season game of the 2019-2020 season until November, first year head coach Nate Oats has the team hard at work over the off-season.

In addition to hosting their annual summer camp this week, Nate Oats put his team through a one-hour practice that was open to reporters.

The Crimson Tide has key returning pieces including guards Kira Lewis, John Petty and Herbert Jones along with seven newcomers for the upcoming season.

Following practice Oats along with Petty and Jones fielded questions from reporters on various topics form the pace of practice to Alabama's new head basketball coach adjusting to life in Tuscaloosa.

For junior John Petty, he noted the fundamental changes with practices under Oats.

"Practice has been a lot faster. We do a lot of new, different things. It's a lot of different terms into the learning. It's a lot of new stuff coming from Coach Oats." Petty Said.

In addition to the new wrinkles, the junior guard talked about how the players are  transitioning to the new way of doing things.

"At first, our guys were a little confused as we first started, but we caught on very fast and everything is going smooth now." Petty said.

"That drives us hard. We had chances to beat those teams last year but we came up short so it's just the edge on our shoulders just to get where they got." Petty said.
