The top recruit in Alabama's 2016 recruiting class has reportedly decided to back off his pledge to Avery Johnson.

According to, Terrance Ferguson made the decision following his visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend. His Dallas API head coach said it was a family decision and that he's still considering the Crimson Tide.

"He's very much still interested in going to Alabama, but he wants to pray about it and make sure he's making the right decision," Forsett told

Jeff Borzello of confirmed the news with Ferguson's mother.

Ferguson, a five-star shooting guard, became the cornerstone of Avery Johnson's first full recruiting class when he committed last August.

The McDonald's All-American raised some eyebrows when he didn't sign last fall during the early signing period. At the time, reports stated that Ferguson's mom was going to set the signing date.

Alabama's 2016 class, which was once ranked in the top 15, tumbled to No. 48 on 247Sports' composite rankings with this decommitment.
