Trevon Diggs Finally Gets his Reward

The Dallas Cowboys have finally decided to pay former Alabama defensive back, Trevon Diggs. According to Ian Rapoport, the younger brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs is signing a five-year extension worth $94 million but could make up to $104 million.

Diggs joins Jaire Alexander, Denzel Ward, and Jalen Ramsey as the highest-paid defensive backs in the NFL. He also becomes the third highest-paid player that previously went to The University of Alabama. Currently, Jalen Hurts (five-year $255 million), Amari Cooper (five-year $100 million), Marlon Humphrey (five-year $97.5 million), and Quinnen Williams (four-year $96 million) earn more on their contracts than Diggs.

If he plays up to the incentives and makes $104 million, Trevon Diggs would earn the highest-paid single contract (non-QB) of any former Alabama player in the Nick Saban era.

In 45 career games, the 24-year-old cornerback has brought in 17 interceptions (11 in 2021) and 49 pass breakups. Even though his play is a very high risk-high reward player, Diggs has very quietly improved in his coverage and limiting big plays.

Diggs is about to enter his fourth season as an NFL player and is now looking to add a Super Bowl to his growing collection. The Dallas Cowboys opened training camp today in Oxnard, Calif., to start their quest for Super Bowl No. 6. Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys open the season on Sept. 10, when they play the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.
