Alabama basketball head coach Anthony Grant picked up a big commitment on Wednesday when the state's top-rated player in the class of 2014 announced his intentions to play college basketball in Tuscaloosa.

Wenonah point guard Justin Coleman led his team to 5A state championship this past season. He scored 17 points and added five assists in a 75-60 win over Center Point in Birmingham.

Coleman told AL.com that Alabama was the perfect fit.

I just made that decision today because I really liked coach (Anthony) Grant and his style and the trust they put in me," Coleman told AL.com. "I feel like it is the right and perfect school for me.

A little undersized at 5'10" and around 150 pounds, Coleman has quickness and solid court vision. He's also shown the ability to take over a game. In January, Coleman scored 56 points against a three-time defending state championship team from Georgia. Maybe the most impressive stat was his 22 of 23 shooting from the free throw line.

This pickup was very important for Alabama. With senior point guard Trevor Releford finishing his career, the Crimson Tide will be left without any true point guard on its roster heading into 2014-15. Coleman has the opportunity to step in and get playing time from day one.
