ESPN has updated its College Football Power Index rankings for the first time this offseason and Alabama checks in at No. 1.

The Crimson Tide had a perfect 13-0 record in route to the school's 18th national championship last season. Alabama currently owns the nation's longest winning streak and is the only SEC team ranked in the top 5.

The College Football Power Index rankings give Alabama a 76.3% chance to make the college football playoff and a 50.8% chance to make the national championship.

Alabama loses a ton of production on offense with Mac Jones, Najee Harris, DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle headed off to the NFL. Where the Tide lack in experience they make up for in talent.

Bryce Young, the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the 2020 recruiting cycle will take over under center. Young has been very impressive through 12 practices this spring. At running back, the Tide will feature one of the deepest running back rooms in the country.

"Our room is very talented," said Brian Robinson. We have great, great players. It's all going to come down to the competition. You've just gotta keep competing and pushing each other to get better every day. There's no limits to what our running back room can stand up to."

Defensively, the Tide lose key starters Patrick Surtain II, Dylan Moses and Christian Barmore, but they still return 8 starters. Malachi Moore, Will Anderson and Christopher Allen earned All-SEC honors a year ago.

Nick Saban also signed the highest-ranked recruiting class in the history of 247Sports. Alabama will look to repeat as national champions for the first time since 2011-2012.
