Former Alabama pitcher Hunter Furtado has been drafted as the No. 167 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Fla., native spent two seasons at the Capstone (2022-23) after transferring from Wake Forest. Last season, he made two starts in 17 appearances, recording a 4.75 earned run average, 38 strikeouts, 31 hits, 22 runs, 19 earned runs, 17 walks, seven doubles, and two home runs.

Furtado is the third Alabama baseball alumnus to be drafted this year, joining pitcher Grayson Hitt and right fielder Andrew Pinckney.
