With the news out that his team is ranked 24th by the AP and picked to finish fifth in the SEC, Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats has a busy week on tap. In addition to daily Alabama basketball practices, he speaks Wednesday in Mountain Brook at SEC Men's Basketball Media Day along with players Mark Sears and Aaron Estrada.

Then, this weekend Oats and staff will host two outstanding prospects.

Derrion Reid is considered  one of the top-ranked players in the class of '24, and he has narrowed his list of schools down to three. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound small forward of Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep will choose from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State. Alabama is said to be the leader and could wrap things up with a great visit.

Hailing from Augusta, Ga., Reid is a five-star recruit and the No. 14 overall player in the country, according to composite recruiting rankings.

Reid iust visited Florida State last weekend. Georgia hosted him October 6th. Reid’s final official visit is Alabama. Word is he does not have a commitment timeframe yet.

Another big name visitor this weekend is Billy Richmond, but he is less likely to sign with Oats than Reid. Richmond is a 6-5 win from Camden, NJ and reportedly has Kentucky and Memphis ahead of Alabama in his pecking order.

In team news, freshman power forward Mo Dioubate is back at practice after suffering a knee injury over the summer. Oats is expected to address that as well as an overall health update on the team when he meets the media Wednesday.

Tide 100.9 will be on hand at Media Day and bring you full coverage of what Oats, Sears and Estrada have to say about the team and its revamped roster.
